Dr McAuliffe has spent many years specialising in knee conditions, knee surgery and hip replacement surgery. He is a member of the Australian Knee Society, The Australian Orthopaedic Association and The American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
His PhD work on knee osteoarthritis and total knee replacements is due for final submission in 2020. He has patent applications around knee replacement planning processes, new knee replacement instruments and is on the design team for a new augmented reality (AR) system for knee replacement surgery. The AR system has already been trialled in theatre and will most likely become available to other surgeons in 2020.
He was awarded the prestigious American-British-Canadian (ABC) Fellowship in 2016 in recognition of his clinical, research, charitable and leadership achievements.
